Perhaps the Seattle Seahawks thought it was still early for left tackle Walter Jones to play a game one month after knee surgery-they put him on the inactive list along with seven other players.

Jones did practice extensively Friday and Seahawks coach Jim Mora Jr. hoped that the nine-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman would be able to put on seahawks jersey and play against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. But finally the team made the decision to keep him out of the game. A microfracture surgery on his left knee last winter already caused Jones to miss the final four games of the 2008 season. I can only say that a second surgery last month made the team have to take precaution.

Other players on inactive list include wide receiver Deion Branch, defensive tackles Brandon Mebane and Michael Bennett, linebacker Leroy Hill and cornerback Travis Fisher.
